So lockdown is easing in the UK and I am looking forward to being ‘sociable’ i say that with caution becasue the introvert me is like hmmmm? Nonetheless, I stay ready to show up and turn out ha!
Speaking of turning up, 2018 Vegas! ohhh what a fantastic time celebrating my girl’s 40th! My first visit to Vegas, the weather was HOT! experienced my first Vegas Cirque de soliel and the food was fantastic! s/o to the man dem at TWIST ! Ahh the memories! To celebrate Papa G’s birthday that year, we had pub lunch at the Spaniards Inn which has a history dating back to 1700s. Rumour has it that it is named after the Spanish Ambassador to James I of England and that highway man Dick Turpin was born here. How’s that for fun facts eh 😎? Anyho’, the oldies were more tickled, I was just there for the food 😋.
We started off with a charcuterie board but this was no ‘regular’ charcuterie board. Doubt if charcuterie boards can be classed as regular ha! The Calabrian cured charcuterie board was full on – sourdough bread, marinated tomatoes, olives and a selection of cured meats

Like I said full on! I made the executive decision to also have a starter, I mean did you see the charcuterie board? And it was a darn good call. Pan seared scallops, crispy pancetta, apple dressing; it was the BUSINESS!

I do love it when scallops are done right – not too busy, or heavy on dressing, fresh that your palate is like dannnngggg!!!! You know? Drakes is another place where the scallops are to die for! We all tried different mains, mine was duck breast with potatoes, peas and greens.

For the birthday boy aka Papa G it was Fish and chips, Mama G and Neal decided to have ‘roast’ dinners. Mama G’s was beef roast with veg, gravy and of course Yorkshire pudding; Neal’s was the same but swapped the beef for roast pork

Can I just say, I do appreciate when a pub has the ace card, you just never know what is going to be on the menu but more importantly the portion sizes?! I mean come on now! The norm would be to get pudding, but we actually passed on that and settled for more wine instead ha! We left the pub ‘happy’ 😀😎
Good birthday still….
Cheers

P.s. Anyone else miss a good ol’ pub crawl? 🤔🤨 fingers crossed, might be able to do this sooner rather than later!
